Steps of Applying Touch-Up Paint
Not all scratches need a trip to a body shop. Some of them are minor, and you can perform them by yourself. Here are steps to follow when applying touch up paint.
Order for a color that matches your car paint. At Kayser Chevrolet Buick, we have a variety of colors and painting accessories that you need.
Choose a hidden spot to test if the paint color matches the original car color. If it looks good, get ready for your scratch repair.
Choose a place like a home garage that has low humidity for best results.
Clean the surface you want to touch up using grease remover. Remove traces of rusty surfaces with sandpaper or wire brush.
Using a thin coat of primer where we have bare metal or plastics and allow it to dry.
Apply a basecoat, the actual paint color, with several thin coats to match the original car paint level.
Ensure the basecoat is dry before applying the clear coat. Use a rubbing compound to ensure a shining result.
